There comes a point in everyone’s career where things become a bit stale and you start to realize the path you’re on is not where you want to be headed. This could not have been more true for myself a few years back when I made the decision to close the TechJohnson website and focus on a career shift. I was so caught up in creating technology content in hopes to gain traction and fame, that I was ultimately looking over what was important to me and my family. This terrified me on many levels and when I realized that I was headed down a vicious cycle of not being able to survive, I made the decision to take a step back and focus on a real career.
When I say real career, I mean something sustainable and something that would work for me. After creating technology content for five years, it was very clear that it wasn’t working out. I needed to make a change. Something that would allow me to live my life and provide for my family.
Fast-forward nearly a year and a half later, I am back doing what I love. This time, however, I’m changing it up and creating content based around my career, hobbies, and family life. While technology is great, it’s not my true passion. I love it, don’t get me wrong, but why not create content that I’m skill at in hopes to help people further their own design and development career. If someone like myself can make it, I have full faith you could too!
So, what can you expect on this website?
Design & Development Tutorials
During my time away from creating content, I focused on building stronger relationships with my clients and continued to build a stronger knowledge base around development and design. Instead of keeping these new skills to myself, I figured I’d share them with the world in hopes to help further your personal career. I believe in giving back, so since I’m not filthy rich in terms of monetary items, I am filthy rich in knowledge. I want to help!
Of course, these are just examples, but I hope I make my point. I want to help you create the best content possible no matter your expertise; beginner, intermediate, advanced.
Business Tips & Tricks
Let me start off being one hundred percent transparent. I am, by no means, a well-known business owner. Yes, I run and operate a business that allows me to provide for my family, but this doesn’t mean I have millions chilling in my bank account. I live a modest life and continue to constantly strive for more, but I’m content with where I’m at. My family has food on the table and a roof over their heads. What more could I ask for?
Throughout the small success I’ve had as a business owner, I’ve picked up on a few tips and tricks. Maybe you’re struggling to find new clients, or even how to charge more than you’re currently charging. My hope is to help you push your business to the next level.
You know what I’m even more excited to share regarding business? Lessons and failures I’ve learned over the years. It hasn’t been a walk in the park. I’ve failed, a lot and I want to share my stories so you don’t make the same mistakes I have!
Place of Business
That’s right, this isn’t going to be an entire website for my online persona or ways to help you succeed. I’m also going to be using this website as the center of my freelance business. If you take a look around the site, you’ll see I have an area where I display some services I provide, as well as a portfolio showing off some of those services I’ve done in the past.
As much as I want to help others, I also want to further my own career. Having new customers is something I’ll always be looking for. So if you’re looking for a rebrand of any sort, don’t hesitate to contact me!
Now that I’ve gone through most of the larger topics I’ll be covering on this website, I want to go over something I find very crucial to building this community. Engagement!
We are all human and I respect everyone’s opinions. Not every article I publish will be perfect. In fact, somethings you may not even agree with and that’s ok! I’d love to hear why in the comment section. I’d love to see words of encouragement, discussions, tips & tricks you’ve learned on the specific topic.
Heck, we could even take it a few steps further with my email newsletter. Want to get even more personal? You could follow me on Facebook and Twitter and we could get to know each other on a more personal basis.
At the end of the day, I want to provide as much value as possible, as well as connect with each and every one of you.
With all this said, welcome to the TechJohnson Website! I look forward to creating content and connecting with you on a personal level. I look forward to helping you succeed in your business and last of all, I look forward to having fun. That’s what it’s all about. Doing something you’re passionate about and something you find fun and interesting.
Before you go, I would love to learn more about you. In the comment section below, tell me your name and what your biggest passion in life is.
